I'll add this post here and make it public, so it can be enough motivation for me to read those all books, and possibly share insights with you if you are interested.
The idea of the experiment is that if you take someone without knowledge of the Chinese language into a room, and give them templates with answers, like "if X -> Then Y", and then get a real native Chinese speaker to write questions, that person in the room would be able to find the matching question and give an aswer, even without understanding the details and knowing Chinese language.
It seems obvious that we need to keep the system status visible and responsive to our actions, yet we still see a lot of examples, when after retrying the system status is unknown.
When you want to get new mail in the macOS mail app you hit Shift+Cmd+N. When you want to refresh events in the Calendar app you hit Cmd+R. Do you find it strange?
